3rd Annual NWA Gives Raises $425,671 for Northwest Arkansas Nonprofits

NWA Gives returned for its third year on April 2, 2020 to inspire charitable giving and offering free resources to all participating nonprofits in Northwest Arkansas

The event raised $425,671 in donations for 202 Northwest Arkansas based nonprofits.

(BENTONVILLE, Ark.) February 18, 2020 — NWA Gives, an annual giving day benefiting nonprofits in Northwest Arkansas, returns for its third year on April 2, 2020. NWA Gives makes fundraising education, training, and resources available to all nonprofits in the Northwest Arkansas area. The training for nonprofits leads up to a day of giving designed to inspire Arkansans to donate to their favorite causes during a 12-hour event. To date, 226 charities have already signed up to raise funds; registration for nonprofits is free but ends on March 1. In 2019, more than 197 charities participated and raised over $715,000.

Sponsors have been actively showcasing their generosity since early this year. The Presenting Sponsor, the Walton Family Foundation, is funding a series of training sessions for participating nonprofits, including a one-day intensive on February 25 and a masterclass starting on February 26. In addition, this year’s Prize Money Sponsor, First Security Bank, is giving away $12,000 in prizes to nonprofits throughout the festivities, including a prize every hour during the 12-hour giving event on April 2.

“This is an event where change-makers and givers across NWA come together to fund the causes they care about,” says Chris Haas, President/CEO of Freedom 5:one Ministries and co-chairman of NWA Gives. “It’s exciting to see the nonprofits rally support and to watch the people in this area give generously to impact their communities.”

To participate, any nonprofit in the Northwest Arkansas area can simply go online and register at NWAGives.org. From there, they will be able to create an online fundraiser and can sign up for training sessions. NWA Gives provides resources like a fundraising checklist, a training hub, creative assets, and more.

NWA Gives founders Tim Howington and Chris Haas of Freedom 5:one Ministries wanted to inspire Arkansans to donate to worthy causes. When they kicked off NWA Gives in 2018, Howington and Haas rallied 115 nonprofits in NWA to participate and raised $208,000 in 12 hours.

Current sponsors and steering team members for the 2020 NWA Gives event include the Walton Family Foundation, First Security Bank, Pure Charity, Freedom5:one Ministries, Branches Mission Lab, Intercut Productions, Hark at the Center for Collaborative Care, 3W Magazine, and Intersection.
